Happy Birthday Crae!

Happy Birthday Crae. Today is Crae's 29th. He's getting old, but we're not. We celebrated with him and his girlfriend, Lachelle at Asian Star. It was very tasty and we had a good time. Sorry the rest of the family couldn't be there to celebrate:(

Couldn't Resist It!

Well, we just spent the last several days at Lake Powell doing our yearly repairs on the houseboat. The water was so smooth on Monday, that we took a break and went for a wakeboard ride. It's April...what was I thinking!!!!!! The water was so cold, but the wetsuit helped. By the end, my hands and feet were frozen, but I was smilin!

Easter with Sean's Family

This Easter season we took a short trip to see Sean and his family. Four months away from the grandkids is long enough we decided. Since it was April, we ventured to Washington DC one day to witness the blooming cherry blossoms along the Tidal Basin. The blooms were at their end, but it was still beautiful and it smelled so wonderful. Here is a pic of Washington Monument surrounded by cherry blossoms.

The Jefferson Memorial was picturesque with over a 1,000 cherry trees surrounding it!

On the way back to the car, Dave put Kyo into this tree stump, and of course Mcrae had to get into the act. So here are the 4 boys posing for pics.

Dave and I in front of a few cherry trees at the festival 2009.

Kyo wasn't sure he wanted this pic. It's amazing how small we look in front of this huge bronze of Thomas Jefferson. This is the inside of the Jefferson Memorial. It is a beautiful monument!

Fiji in the wild

The last few days we have spent some time inland. We went on a whitewater rafting trip in the upper Navua River Gorge. There were lots of rapids, but unfortunately they weren't more than Class III. But it was still fun. Because there had been rain previously, we floated past over 50 waterfalls. Here we are standing under one of them. The flow was so hard that it hurt your head to stand under very long.

On our last dive here on Viti Levu, we went to a site called Million Dollar Point. The sea life was most beautiful. Here's just a small view of what we saw that dive.
We and the Hutchings had a great time getting very wet on the river trip. Here we are in some calm water.

Here we are again, just emerging from some rapids, head gear and all. It's a lovely look don't you think?

Fun in FIji

We're on the island of Viti Levu with friends and doing some more diving. We decided to take the advanced diver course so we can be better divers. Here a few pics I took in the last few days in Beqa Lagoon. Below is a rare anenome with an anenome fish in it. I really enjoy watching these little guys swim around.

Here is a pic a some the colorful soft corals in the area. It's amazing how bright some of the colors are. This is one of the few places in the world where the corals are this bright.

Here is a butterfly fish and a jellyfish. We have spotted a few jellies in the area...no stings so far and I'm not planning on it either!
Speaking of stings, this lionfish could do some harm. Thankful he was just happy hiding among crevices we found him in. He was about 12 inches long.
We'll be here until Saturday, then fly into Kadavu, another island in Fiji.

Brynnley & Her Piglet Fettish

Last week Dave and I flew up to Spokane to visit Noelle, Adam & Brynnley for a few days. We hadn't seen them since Christmas and it's amazing how much our little granddaughter has grown. She is crawling, talking up a storm (not making any sense, though) and charming us with her sweet, wet kisses. She loves her piglet shown below. Here's a few pics of her most adored toy! Thanks Noelle & Adam for letting us come visit. We love you!
