Exploring the Canyonlands

We've had enough of winter here in Salt Lake City, so we ventured south to the Canyonlands with the Bagleys to enjoy the warm weather and the beautiful scenery. We had a fantastic time and the weather was perfect!!
While the guys did some motorcycle riding, Janice and I went horseback riding for several hours through the back country. It was so much fun, but was my back side sure sore for several days!


On our first day, we hiked Capital Gorge in Capital Reef National park. Here is Janice and me resting in what litte shade was round and we were astonished at all the wild flowers around.
Capital Gorge is where many of the pioneers traveled through. The walls are carved with some of ther names and dates that they passed through.

On our second day we hiked up to Lower Calf Creek falls. It was a 6 mile hike that took us about 5 hours. Across the river we saw these pictographs. They were very tall to be able to see them from so far away. These were put here by the Fremont Indians.

On our way back home, we stopped at Hell's Backbone bridge. What a spectacular view. Here's Dave.
We also stopped at Kodachrome Basin. Here is a pic of the only arch in the park.

Kodachrome Basin is known for its sedimentary pipes. These odd looking rock spires were very plentiful.
Our last stop was Bryce Canyon. Here is a pic of the hoodoos at Inspiration Point. Amazing!

Crae's Wedding

Crae married Lachelle Renee Jacobson on May 1 at Willowcreek Country Club. Close family and friends helped them celebrate as well as the cutest niece and nephews around. We still haven't received pics from the photographer, so these few shots will have to do for now.


Mcrae, Brynnley and Kyo (a ring bearer) are all smiles. It's amazing that they stayed happy for so long. We arrived 1.5 hours early to help decorate and primp.

Cutting the cake...it was marble with raspberry filling on one layer, and strawberry with chocolate mousse filling on the other layer. The white gum paste flowers were beautiful even though you can't see them in this pic.
Sharing the cake...they were polite and didn't smear it all over each other! Nice. Congratulations you two!!!!!!!!!!!! We love you both.

Our backyard friend!

Dave went out of the back porch this morning and found this little guy just sitting on our table. He sat there for quite a while...now I think I know why. A little while later I found quite a few small orange/white feathers stuck to our big picture window...he must have flown into the window and was sitting on the table "stunned" and trying to regroup so he could fly off again...which he did after about 10 minutes. Poor little guy!! After a bit of research, I found this bird to be named a Western Tanager.

Our Newest Addition to the Family

After saving for several years, Dave and I decided to buy a new boat. Actually this is only the 2nd brand new boat we have ever owned...the others have been used. We sold our 1996 Malibu to a good friend and bought another Malibu. We are excited and look forward to many years on the lake! Here is Sean and his family scouting out our new boat while it was on detail at Taylor Boats. It's now in our garage and waiting for warmer weather.
